Frequently Asked
Questions

What is signage substrate?

A signage substrate is the basic material used to build a sign’s face. It’s the physical surface where ink is applied. The right substrate is important for creating long-lasting and visually appealing signage.

Here are some common signage substrates:

  • Acrylic: A durable and versatile substrate that can be used for indoor or outdoor signage. It can be cut and routed into custom shapes.
  • MDO wood: A plywood core with a smooth, moisture-proof surface. Wood can be used for both indoor and outdoor signage, but it may require extra care and upkeep.
  • Aluminum: A solid aluminum sheet with a smooth, baked enamel white surface.
  • Aluminum Composite Material (ACM): A rigid metal sheet made by sandwiching a polyethylene core between two sheets of pre-finished aluminum. ACM is lighter and more cost-effective than a solid aluminum sheet.
  • Vinyl: A durable, flexible, and long-lasting material that produces brighter graphics and colors than printing on standard paper.
